November Newsletter
Dear Parents,
We would like to start this newsletter by “Giving Thanks” to all the families that we have met and that have become part of our lives. Your support and help is greatly appreciated! Reminder! There will be NO SCHOOL on Wednesday, November 27th through Monday, December 2nd. Happy Thanksgiving!
Language Arts-In language arts we continue to read Harriet the Spy. We have started our first Common Core module which will focus on how stories reveal what people have in common.
Ohio History-
In Ohio history we are ready to begin chapter six. In this chapter we will be learning about the transportation revolution. We will also learn about the Irish and German immigrants. Our Indian reports were awesome! The students did a wonderful job presenting their Indian information.
Math-
The kids have been working hard getting to know fractions and decimals. If you ever get a chance have your child do some practice adding and subtracting decimals when you go on a shopping
trip. The kids love working with money!
We are getting ready to start multiplying with multi-digit numbers. We will be teaching several multiplication methods; no certain method is required. Please encourage your child to multiply
in whatever method works for them! If you need help understanding a certain multiplication method, please refer to the Everyday Math website for help. www.everydaymathonline.com
Science-
We just finished up our weather unit and our final assessment where the kid had to do research on a hurricane of their choice, make a power point, and the present their power point to the class. They did an exceptional job and I was very proud of all of the kids.
Our next unit is all about landforms. The kids typically enjoy this unit and our assessment again will not be a traditional one. This unit assessment will require the kids to actually manipulate play
dough to make each landform we learn about. We are currently accepting play dough donations!
It as wonderful to meet so many of you at conferences. We enjoyed our time with each
family. We love this team and feel blessed to have such supportive families!
